I know I’ve been to Valley of Fire multiple times as a kid, but that was when I didn’t appreciate road trips or nature. It was nice to go back to this childhood site with a childhood friend and a little bit more life experience (and a better camera) in the bag. There’s also an added nostalgia bonus when your hiking partner knows the words to Nevada’s state song and you find a bag of Andy Capp’s Cheddar Fries at the dinky gift shop.
