Why yes, those are Hello Kitty headphones… complete with ears and a red bow – courtesy of Gileseyboy. And yes, after a few months of just using a basic flip phone (they do still exist) since returning from Japan, I have crossed back over to the Android world. I was a little wary after my pre-Japan experience with the super awful Samsung Transform, which was so bad, I wanted to trade it in for a non-smartphone. After being lucky enough to get an iPhone in Japan, I thought I’d never go back. Unfortunately, my Japanese iPhone is locked to Softbank (even though I don’t have a contract with them anymore), and the company is one of the few carriers that refuses to unlock phones… which meant I was stuck with a glorified iPod touch. Rather than spend way too much money on a phone/plan with a contract, I decided to go old school for a while until I found a good deal on a no-contract smartphone. Thanks, Cyber Monday! The iPhone now seems miniscule compared to the huge screen of my Siii. I think I’m a fan, although I’m still adjusting to life with a smartphone again.
