Spring approaching

March 6, 2013

Enough of this cold weather! I’m so ready for spring to officially be here!

The third year students are either finished with or in the middle of taking their entrance exams to get into high school. All the teachers were asked a couple weeks back to write well-wishes and encouraging messages to the students on pieces of wood which were then hung on a tree outside. Mine has no beautifully written kanji on it, but I’m pretty sure it gave my students oodles of inspirational warm fuzzies.

I thought the tree was a cherry blossom tree, but I was told it’s actually an ume (Japanese plum blossom) tree. I’m obviously not truly Japanese because I can’t tell the difference. Regardless, the tree bloomed this week and we even got some nice sunshine, so it was a good time to take a few shots.
