I typically don’t expect to get holidays off because I work in the news business, but I’ve been getting them off lately because of my odd and changing weekend schedules just happening to fall on holidays. My sister and her husband drove up from North Carolina for the 4th, and I decided it was a good time to actually cook for once and make a shindig out of it. It was a lovely evening with good company, chili, salads, patriotic cakes and fireworks.
