Hamamatsu Castle

June 15, 2013

Finally got around to visiting the Hamamatsu castle. I had heard it’s quite small and not as impressive as other more famous castles, but hey, it’s still a castle (although rebuilt…as most historical sites in Japan unfortunately are…). It actually turned out to be quite a nice little place to check out – even though I was drenched in sweat the whole time from Japanese humidity and the lack of A.C. If you’re going to go through the trouble of rebuilding a castle, you might as well put some A.C. in there since it’s not really going to be authentic anyway. But then I guess you couldn’t suffer in true samurai form.

After a look at the castle and a walk around Hamamatsu Castle Park, we set off on a wandering adventure around Hamamatsu, and then ended the day with some okonomiyaki and good Hamamatsu gyoza.
